What is Drink It Forward?

Drink It Forward is a way for you to do something that you have likely never done… connect with a total stranger by gifting them coffee! Instead of buying coffee for yourself, we have created a way for you to give away a bag instead, stir conversation, make a new friend, and find common ground.

Why Drink It Forward?

No matter how great it might be to buy a bag of coffee for yourself or for a friend, especially if it’s a locally roasted, ethically sourced specialty coffee, at Soul, we’re changing the narrative. We believe it truly is always better to give, than to receive. That’s why we created the world’s first “Drink-It-Forward” coffee system.

We know it’s not always easy to start a conversation with a complete stranger. Differences in personalities, politics, and positions can be intimidating. But what if we all have more in common than we thought? Can a simple conversation alter the course of your day, week, year, or life?! We believe so. We believe that conversations can change the world. So, we decided that we were going to help others stir conversation and find common grounds through the currency of coffee.

How Do I Drink It Forward?

When you select the “Drink-it-Forward” option during the checkout process, you are choosing to send a bag of coffee to an absolute stranger. Yep, that’s right! Total. Stranger. In the notes section, you will add your Instagram handle and provide a way for that stranger to thank you for their coffee and begin a conversation. We will even be suggesting a few things that you can talk about. It may be uncomfortable at first, but when you push through the awkwardness you will likely find that you have more in common than you thought.
Step 1. Select one of our “Drink it Forward” Coffees
Step 2. Select Quantity. We recommend starting with 1 bag, but feel free to be as generous as you want!
Step 3. Select “Yes” when asked if you want to Drink It Forward.
Step 4. Add to Cart (Note: If you want to buy coffee for yourself as well, add that coffee to your cart and select “No” under the Drink It Forward option.)
Step 5. Add your Instagram handle in the notes section, along with a brief note.
Step 6. Checkout. Add your own shipping address, even if you are only Drinking the Coffee Forward.
Step 7. Wait for your new surprise Soul friend to reach out and thank you for their coffee! The rest will be history.
